Don’t we all love French fries? Of course, we do but how often can we eat them, well at least without a bit of guilt?
So what if we don’t use potatoes and skip frying them? Now wait a minute, there are still yummy, crispy fries coming your way. They will be a bit sweeter than usual and a bit spicy too and so much healthier.
Spicy Sweet Potato Oven Fries are so beyond awesome, I think I’m addicted or in love or both. The addition of Sumac gives them a tangy bite, the crushed red pepper a kick of spice, the sea salt rounds out the team, and the baking keeps the centers creamy and the edges crispy.
Sumac: Sumacs are shrubs and small trees with fruits that form dense clusters of reddish drupes called sumac bobs. The dried drupes of some species are ground to produce a tangy deep-red purple spice used in Middle Eastern cuisine to add a lemony tart taste to salads or meat.
Place the sweet potato in a bowl, add the oil and toss to coat. Add the chili, sumac and salt and toss to coat.
Place the potato in a single layer on 2 baking trays lined with non-stick baking paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, turn and bake for a further 10-15 minutes or until crisp.
Now get ready to enjoy don’t forget the ketchup, Umami Savory Ketchup, or Thai Style Spicy Barbecue Ketchup.
